What I mean by that question is, if you learn how to develop and create software on a computer, can you use that knowledge to develop software on devices other than computers (Examples: Software for video game consoles like PS3’s, Wii’s, and Xbox’s; Handheld Portable Devices like tablets, phones, ipods, PSP’s)? Or is that knowledge specifically only for computers?

The thing is, how can i train/practice myself, and i don’t want to pay for any books or anything. Is there any way i can practice and learn, then try to make software, and even if it takes many years, i become a good programmer.
