If I get a dvd player in my computer what software do I need to get clips from the dvd?

   Presuming that there are no copyright issues (of course!) then a useful program for extracting scenes from DVDs is vidomi, which can be downloaded for free from.

   this is basically a divx converter, so you can extract selected segments from a DVD and convert them to divx .avi files on your hard drive.
