What kind of computer software should i use in my family’s sawmill?

My family is “resurrecting” our family sawmill, and i was wondering what type of computer program to use, to keep track of all our records, accounts, paychecks, etc.
Anyone know of any good program?

    most linux operating systems come with open office pre installed and its all free
