What type of computer and software is best for recording audio?

I want to start recording guitar/vocals/keyboard into a computer, but first I need a good computer. Any recommendations for software would be appreciated as well.

   music studio 2004 deluxe you can make you own cds and record yourself you also might want to try a newer version though
